April Update

Article text
It's been a busy start to the month!
Thanks for all the good luck wishes and the support for my display at the Lord Louis Library, newport IOW - all is going well!

I'm busy sorting some photographs from a family visit to the Owl and Falconry Centre at Appuldurcombe - I will add a few to the Gallery over the next couple of days.

I have been lucky enough to photograph 2 different species of bird over the last couple of days - both very rare, not just to the Isle of Wight, but to the whole of the UK. The first is the 'Black Winged Stilt', a wading bird mainly found in Central and Southern Europe. Small and very agile on it's long legs, this bird seems a little far from home! The second bird is the European Eagle Owl - not really found in this country and it is quite possible that this bird might have been a Falconers bird until acouple of years ago, when it was either released or lost, and is now (very rarely) spotted around the Island, There is a photograph of both birds on the New Photos page.

Last, but not least....
I finally got round to popping into the Isle of Wight Zoo to do a photo session with Casper, the new White Lion. What a beautiful animal!!
Thanks to my friends at the zoo again for their hospitality! You can see a couple of photos in the Isle of Wight Zoo gallery.
